Confirmation

The highlights of the Confirmation program are:

  • Flexibility in scheduling for busy teens. A variety of electives are offered at different times of the year so families can avoid conflicts with sports or extracurricular activities by customizing a program to fit their busy schedules.
  • The focus on confirmation begins in the 7th grade, enabling all 1:8 EDGE curriculum to be covered in monthly sessions (less frequent meetings)
  • Electives are quality catechetical programs which incorporate an element of adventure and fun that will engage teens and caregivers alike. The programs target active learning of the faith.
  • Parents or caregivers are encouraged to attend electives to grow in faith together with their teen.

Each year teens will have:

  • 9 EDGE nights
  • 4 XLT
  • 2 Service Projects
  • 5 Electives (large scale electives like camp Veritas fulfills more than 1 elective)

Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation that renews and strengthens the baptismal commitment. During the Reception of the Sacrament, the Bishop anoints each candidate with the oil called Sacred Chrism. Each candidate is sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit.

"But when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be filled with power, and you will be witnesses for me in Jerusalem, in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
