Stewardship Report

Thanks to everyone for their special donations this Easter…as always the people of St. Lawrence have been very generous.

We are finishing work on closing in the open garage area between the Parish Center and the Gym. This creates a storage area where many things that have been crowding the Parish Center can be relocated more usefully, and frees up space in the Parish Center for meeting rooms. We’ve been able to do this at a cost of under $3000.

BESP Thanks

The Brewster Emergency Shelter Program would like to thank all the volunteers who gave of their time and energy during this past winter season. Volunteers donated clothing, prepared and served meals and served as overnight hosts to assist those in our community who were in need. Please stop by the vestibule to see a listing of names and photos (most but not all) of those volunteers who answered God’s call here at SLOT. God Bless them all.

Stewardship Report

Work is continuing on our renovation of the old school into a parish center. We’re currently working on putting doors on the open garage so it can be used for storage of many things taking up space needed in the Parish Center for programs. This will cost under $5,000. Shortly we will be closing and insulating the breezeway between the gym and the parish center. It is made mostly of glass and has been leaking heat for years, so this will help save on fuel costs. One estimate we got was $17,000, but we are working on bringing that down lower.

Easter Crowds

I suppose a good number of our regular parishioners were displaced from your usual seats by visitors, relatives, and those who attend Mass only occasionally. Thank you for putting up with any inconvenience you may have experienced. But isn’t it great to see so many who are still searching for God come along to Mass? They are the people Jesus is looking for, and we always need to be welcoming and joyful. And we need to be reaching out always as a Church community. Thanks so much.

Divine Mercy Sunday

Let us celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday April 7 – Jesus says that “I will pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy” on Divine Mercy Sunday. Divine Mercy Novena starts on Good Friday through Divine Mercy Sunday and will be recited after the 9AM weekday Mass.

Stewardship Report

Work is being completed on repainting the kitchen in the rectory and finishing the priest’s chapel on the second floor. The work cost about $6000 and we were able to make use of some funds other than parish donations to pay for it. As always, generous volunteers again did a huge portion of the work and were directed by our renovation coordinator, Luis Rueda. Next week work will begin on the next phase of our Parish Center Renovation project that is adapting the second floor of the old school into a state of the art parish center for adult education and parish meetings.

Handymen Needed

We have several construction/renovation projects in the rectory and Parish Center underway that need people with carpentry, plumbing, or electrical skills. Please call Fr. Gill at the rectory if you can help (279-2021).
