Walking with Purpose

WALKING WITH PURPOSE is a group for women to explore their faith through scripture study and conversation.

Putnam Ridge Nursing Home Communion

A Communion Service is held at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home every Friday and the 4th Saturday of every month. Volunteers are needed to assist in the readings for the coming Sunday. Eucharistic Ministers distribute communion and visit rooms of those not able to attend service. If you would like to volunteer or for more information, please contact the St. Lawrence O’Toole rectory at 845-250-2021 or stlotoole@comcast.net.

Hispanic Ministry

Every Monday evening at 7:30, all are welcome to gather for a Celebration of the Word of God.  We spend time reflecting on scripture readings, followed by discussion.  English classes are held on Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the school.  Also in the school, on Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. we have a dialogue on various social themes.  This is an open forum for discussion.  Walk-ins are welcome for all the programs.  For more information, please contact George Sohn at 845-225-4357.

Cornerstone

Cornerstone is a 26 hour weekend retreat for the men and women of St. Lawrence O’Toole Parish. The goal of Cornerstone is for each candidate to make Christ the cornerstone of their Catholic life and to live the life He has ordained for them.

The retreat presents an opportunity for spiritual development as each candidate listens to the life story of others while reflecting on their own life. The Cornerstone team and candidates form Christian relationships that extend into parish life and other ministries.

Eucharistic Adoration

Set aside one hour of your busy schedule to spend some quality time with Jesus. Spending alone time with the Lord at other times as well as on Sunday morning is a way to feel even more personally connected to Him. It enables you to really “listen” to the Holy Spirit and enjoy his company. When it is time for you to leave you leave feeling refreshed and ready to take on all that He wants you to do.

Some ways to spend a Holy Hour with Jesus:

  1. Sit quietly or have a silent heart to heart conversation
  2. Pray a rosary

Bereavement Ministry

The Bereavement Ministry for St. Lawrence O’Toole provides Bereavement Support Group sessions several times during the year. The purpose of the group sessions is to give each participant an opportunity to share with others who are grieving, to learn about the process of grief and to receive support from each other in the context of this Christian based ministry.

Friends and Neighbors

The Friends and Neighbors of St. Lawrence assists the community by providing transportation (for appointments, shopping, etc.), running errands (groceries, medications, etc.), preparing meals during a difficult time, making home visits or phone calls to you (it’s always nice to have a friend say “hello”), or sending a birthday card to the elderly or homebound.

If you or someone you know could use a Friend or Neighbor to help out, please e-mail Judy at JudyCallahan122@msn.com or call the St. Lawrence O’Toole rectory at 845-279-2021.

Blood Drives

Sponsored by the Hudson Valley Blood Services, blood drives are held four times per year by the Churches of Brewster: St Lawrence, Trinity Lutheran and the Methodist Church. We assist donors after their donations with refreshments. If you are interested in volunteering or donating, please contact the St. Lawrence O’Toole rectory at 845-279-2021 or stlotoole@comcast.net.

Midnight Run

The  St. Lawrence O’Toole community is proud to serve as a contributor of Midnight Run, a charity organization dedicated to helping lessen the struggles of the homeless by providing food, clothing and personal items. Midnight Run operates all year long with various communities, groups, and churches contributing to this effort.
