St. Lawrence Knights of Columbus Centennial History
It may be a surprise to many parishioners but this year the Knights of Columbus are celebrating their 100th anniversary here at St. Lawrence O’Toole. In honor of this milestone event, there will be a series of activities and events that we will be scheduling in the months to come. So please keep an eye out for our articles in the bulletin - we will be inviting everyone to share in helping us commemorate 100 years of service to this parish!
As one way of bringing our centennial into focus, and the connection we have with those who came before us, we will begin sharing highlights of the history of this council with periodic articles in the bulletin. Many of you may not be aware that one of our previous pastors, Msgr. Edward McCabe, was not only the chaplain for our council but also the town historian. His interest and dedication enabled him to assemble histories not only of this parish, but also of our local Knights of Columbus. We will draw from his work as well as more recent records to sketch out the significant events that have intertwined the K of C and our Parish, and helped make them the institutions we know today.
