This being my final bulletin article as your pastor, I want to thank all of you for working with me to accomplish many great things for God in my years serving you. We have begun a number of wonderful ministries for the glory of God and the benefit of the people of the parish. I have been enriched working with so many of you in bringing these ministries to you and I thank you for your faith, energy, trust and love in following the lead of the Holy Spirit.
There is a wonderful phrase that is used in the ordination ceremony when a man is being ordained a deacon and when he is being ordained a priest. After the man to be ordained promises respect and obedience to his bishop, the bishop says, “May God who has begun the good work in you bring it to fulfillment.” I share these words with you to exhort you all to continue the good work we have begun and bring it to fulfillment with your new pastor. In the end, the blessings, graces and fruits we have seen and will see are not about Fr. McKeon, they are about Christ and salvation in him.
As a new pastor comes to St. Lawrence and Sacred Heart, please welcome him with the love of Christ. Don’t compare him to any other priest but love him for who he is and allow him to serve you with the gifts God has given him. Make him feel welcome by your own heartfelt hospitality and love as disciples of Jesus Christ.
May the peace of Christ be with you all and remain with you forever!
