The Architectural Designs for the New Church are here! The excitement begins!

Next weekend, November 21/22, the New Church Designs will be on view in the parish hall and will remain up until November 30th. Architects proposals are submitted!

On or before October 16, 2009, the four architects will return their individual proposals to both the Archdiocese of NY and the parish office at St. Lawrence O'Toole. Each proposal will be reviewed by committee members and then each firm will be invited to St. Lawrence to give a presentation on their proposal. In mid November, each of the proposals will be displayed for all of our parishoners to see and give feedback. We will make a decision on which Architectural firm we will use to design our new church by December 1st.

What's a Narthex?

Well, it's not a creature from a Harry Potter tale! A narthex is a “church” term for a vestibule or a lobby. In the newer, larger churches the narthex is a gathering space that will allow parishioners to greet one another, and a place where they can find parish information and religious pamphlets. The larger narthex makes it more comfortable for receiving lines and preparation for special liturgies, i.e. First Communion line-up.

Prayer for Our New Church

Father in heaven,
we have been called to build a
new church, to witness to
your loving presence, among us,
and to serve your people here
and those yet to be born.
Guide us in this great work.
Keep us humble and open
to your Spirit.
Let this be a time of renewed
faith, hope, and love,
and when this church is
complete, may the people of
St. Lawrence O’Toole fill it,
as we sing your praises with
joy in the name of
Jesus Christ, the Lord.
Amen.
