What's a Narthex?
Submitted by Mary Corretjer on Fri, 09/11/2009 - 10:00am.Well, it's not a creature from a Harry Potter tale! A narthex is a “church” term for a vestibule or a lobby. In the newer, larger churches the narthex is a gathering space that will allow parishioners to greet one another, and a place where they can find parish information and religious pamphlets. The larger narthex makes it more comfortable for receiving lines and preparation for special liturgies, i.e. First Communion line-up.
